Safe Harbor Program
WUHSD is committed to removing barriers, providing support and services for our students to cultivate an environment where every child is known, safe, inspired, challenged and empowered. The Safe Harbor program offers additional support for our foster youth, former foster youth, homeless youth, migrant youth, and probation-involved student populations.
What our students are saying about the Safe Harbor Program:
“It has made me feel safe”
“It has helped a lot and helped me feel more confident in myself.”
“It has made me open up”
“It has made me feel belonging to this school”
“It is a safe place where people help/understand me”
“I think it's a place to help and guide students to become stable and successful on their own.”
Students qualifying as a foster youth or who are experiencing homelessness have additional legal rights, including personalized transportation, immediate enrollment, and more. Additional information on the specific rights of foster and homeless youth can be found here: Foster and Homeless Youth Services | Wheatland Union High School District (wheatlandhigh.org)
