Pirates at SEA
(Scholar Enrichment Academies)
Early College Access Program
Wheatland Union High School is now offering an opportunity for students to participate in the Pirates at SEA program. This is a Scholar Enrichment Academy (SEA) that allows students to acquire between 39-60+ units while they are in high school. Courses are aligned with Yuba College and part of the Early College Access Program.
An Associates degree at a Community College is 60 units. This cohort program allows students to accomplish up to an Associates degree during their time at Wheatland Union High School. These units are acquired through a planned system of Dual Enrollment, Articulation, AP Testing, Concurrent Enrollment, and Challenging by Exam. Students must apply for and commit to enrollment in the Academy during the month of February for the following year. While this program is directed towards highly academically driven students, support services and tutoring is available to students in the Pirates at SEA program. Summer courses on either the Yuba College Campus in Marysville, Yuba City, Online, or at Wheatland Union High School will be required if the student wishes to work towards an Associates Degree.
Students may choose to join one of the Academy CTE Pathways for priority consideration in the Pathway courses that are offered as Dual Enrollment or Articulated classes. Priority is given to those students who commit to a CTE pathways due to the requirements of the grant that is funding this program, but students on all career paths will be considered.
The Pirates at SEA program can be joined through an application and interview process with our CTE & College Readiness Center. Applications are accepted during the month of February in the year preceding enrollment. A parent information meeting in late January with a video available to watch afterward.
